7 things a Christian should do to grow spiritually

On Sunday, February 24, 2019, preaching to the church, Aimée Uwamahoro focused on seven (7) things a Christian should do to become a spiritual grown-up :

1. Increasing prayer time :
The preacher encourages everyone to have their devotion time with God. 1 Thessalonians 5:16. Everyone is encouraged to pray unceasingly and thankfully.

2. Increasing Bible reading time and meditating on the word of God.
2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness”

3. Needing a helper (Allowing the Holy Spirit to operate)
Romans 8:14 “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.”

4. Training oneself to be clean in everything
Psalms 1:1-3 “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither whatever they do prospers.”

5. Perseverance
James 1:12 “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”

6. Humility
Proverb 22:4 “In you our ancestors put their trust ; they trusted and you delivered them.”

7. Being led by the Spirit instead of oneself
Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
Concluding the Preacher required the church to always be reminded of the word read in Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
