Sunday, October 6, 2019, the Church was blessed and honored to welcome Rev. Pastor Weston Sambo from GMC Global Mission, in Tanzania and he preached about an effective prayer that moves God’s heart.
The Pastor went ahead and mentioned that due to daily struggles one passes through, several times they are carried away while praying. However, he highlighted three reasons one should be guided by the Spirit in their prayers.
1. When guided by the Spirit, we pray for what God really wants us to pray for :
Due to the struggles of life, numerous times people change in their mind and focus on the struggles. And whenever they are praying, only the struggles keep coming on our mind, but when we allow the Spirit of God to guide us in our prayer, we pray appropriately. John 5:5-8.
2. The Spirit gives us priorities to pray for
Numerous times, what we prioritize in our prayer, is different from what God prioritizes. Thus any time, we allow the Spirit to guide us, we end up being heroes of God.
3. The Spirit guides us to pray for what God cares about
God’s desire is to see people get saved. He wants the believers to pray for the unsaved and tell them about the good news of salvation. He wants us to pray for what is for His glory like Hannah prayed “And she made a vow, saying, ‘Lord Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.’” 1 Samuel 1:11. He answers prayers that match with purposes.
Concluding, Rev. Pastor Sambo urged every believer to allow The Holy Spirit’s guidance and start praying selfless prayers. “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” Romans 8:26
Ephesians 3:20, John 5:5-8, Romans 10:13-15, 1 John 1:9, 1 Samuel 1:10-16 and Romans 8:2.
